One-Punch Man, Vol. 15 Free Pdf

Title: One-Punch Man, Vol. 15 Pdf

Manga creator ONE began One-Punch Man as a webcomic, which quickly went viral, garnering over 10 million hits. In addition to One-Punch Man, ONE writes and draws the series Mob Psycho 100 and Makai no Ossan. Yusuke Murata, a highly decorated and skilled artist best known for his work on Eyeshield 21, won the 122nd Hop Step Award (1995) for Partner and placed second in the 51st Akatsuka Award (1998) for Samui Hanashi.

Life gets pretty boring when you can beat the snot out of any villain with just one punch.

Nothing about Saitama passes the eyeball test when it comes to superheroes, from his lifeless expression to his bald head to his unimpressive physique. However, this average-looking guy has a not-so-average problem—he just can’t seem to find an opponent strong enough to take on!

Despite just finishing a martial arts tournament and immediately dealing with the Monster Association invasion, Saitama still proves to be so incredibly strong that he feels empty inside. King lectures him on how to live like a hero, but it doesn’t help. Meanwhile, servants of the Monster Association close in on Speed-o’-Sound Sonic!

Still more on the monster association While I am enjoying the monster association Ark, along with the details of the other characters. I really enjoyed the breakdown of the threat levels and why they aren't exactly accurate. Still I am missing Saitama kicking ass, hopefully we get to some more of that soon.Another great volume of this series The action continuesA LOT happens this book! The monster rampage is winding down, except for a few stubborn marauders. Puri-Puri Prisoner demonstrates anew that some heroes just do not have good sense. (And he delivers an "oh, my god!" moment when he gets a phone call -- you'll see what I mean!) Saitama missed most of the action and is feeling low, but receives advice and counseling on heroism and purpose in life from ... King? Finally, Garo vs. Watchdog Man -- in flashback/summary, but at least we find out what happened. The Monster Association reaches out to Speed-O-Sound Sonic. Armored Gorilla (remember the House of Evolution?) reappears. A monster with an ultimatum and challenge penetrates Hero Association headquarters. Not all heroes -- in particular the mysterious Metal Knight -- endorse the Hero Association's plans; and not all monsters -- hardly any, in fact -- are enthused about serving Monster King Oriochi. Is there a monster equivalent of One-Punch Man in the crowd? If so, you heard it here first! Garo and wimpy kid Tareo reconnect. And that's not even a complete summary of this issue's events ... A couple of fun bonus chapters, too: "Threat Level" discusses and demonstrates monster ratings in the present time; and "Sighting" revisits the very first One-Punch episode from a different perspective. Just one kinda disappointment: Lovit Rabbit -- featured on the back cover -- turns out to be only a video game character, not a new addition to the cast. Oh well.

Title: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings Pdf

Sent by their mother to live with their devout, self-sufficient grandmother in a small Southern town, Maya and her brother, Bailey, endure the ache of abandonment and the prejudice of the local "powhitetrash". At eight years old and back at her mother's side in St. Louis, Maya is attacked by a man many times her age - and has to live with the consequences for a lifetime.

Years later, in San Francisco, Maya learns about love for herself and the kindness of others, her own strong spirit, and the ideas of great authors ("I met and fell in love with William Shakespeare") will allow her to be free instead of imprisoned.

Poetic and powerful, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings is a modern American classic that will touch hearts and change minds for as long as people read - or listen.

The author's childhood story told with honesty, dignity and hope This story of the author's childhood is beautifully told with honesty, dignity and hope. While some scenes are intense and painful, all shine through the eyes of this bright child who views the world, even at its harshest, with wonder. The chapter describing her graduation from eighth grade encompasses all of these emotions: the joy of a child who has a achieved a valued goal and is being recognized as a 'star' by her community, only to be told by a crass political speaker that she and her kind have no hope to excel beyond their position as dictated by their race; followed by a realization that the pride and defiance of their very survival has made them strong enough to give lie to his claims. While The Caged Bird has the attraction of most good childhood autobiographies, showing through young eyes how someone can overcome the worst kind of adversity and thrive, it has another dimension as well. The author reports with dignified distance on the events of her childhood, but not without critical judgement. In the course of telling her story, she also give insight into her culture and the reasons behind it.Beyond the wonderful style, it's a worthwhile and enlightening read. This book is actually fantastic! Angelou writes about such heavy issues (abandonment I wasn't excited about this book before reading it, but boy was I wrong! This book is actually fantastic! Angelou writes about such heavy issues (abandonment, sexual assault, racism, sexual confusion, etc.), and yet her writing is so crafty and crisp that the reader does not feel overwhelmed or put off. The writing is so fun and engaging. Angelou makes use of figurative language to paint vivid and delightful pictures of her childhood experiences. She does a great job of communicating so much in less than 300 pages. There are many little gems embedded on every page; this book is so rich with meaning and literary technique.Classic for a reason! I'm not sure why it took me so long to read this book! I've heard about it for years, seen it referenced in other books and movies, yet I always avoided reading it myself. After coming across it again on the Amazon store, I decided to go ahead. Maybe I would get bored one day and skim it.Oh my goodness. As soon as I started reading it, I didn't stop. Starting at 7:00 pm., by the time the birds signaled dawn, I finished the last page with tears in my eyes.Aside from the obviously touching story, Maya Angelou is a truly gifted writer. She was able to transform her writing as her character (herself) aged. She wrote from the mind of a child in the beginning, and by the end, she had a new maturity.Beautiful. Worth all the accolades it's received thus far.

Looker Pdf

Title: Looker Pdf A Novel
Author: Laura Sims
Published Date: 2019-01-08
Page: 192

An Indie Next Pick"[Looker] is an ephemeral fiction with a hard landing—like a window, seen in passing, that glows and goes dark." —The New Yorker "Looker is a sugarcoated poison pill of psychological terror, whose wit and fluency cover its lacerating diagnosis of the deranging effects of envy, perhaps the most widespread social sickness of our age. The novel disturbs because we are all, to some degree, susceptible to the bacillus of the narrator’s insanity. And her symptoms may be more recognizable than we care to admit." —Wall Street Journal “It’s easy to imagine that stars live gauzily perfect lives. But what happens when the illusion turns deadly? In Sims’s creepy debut, a woman fixates on the actress living across the street, admiration tilting into pathology as events in her own life—infertility, her husband’s desertion—unmask her fragility. The ultimate unreliable narrator, she reveals her instability slowly. By the end you’ll be gasping.” —People Magazine “A wicked slow-burn . . . . Looker glides toward its ending as if eagerly awaiting the discovery of something ghastly.” —Entertainment Weekly "Is Looker a warning? A character study? An exploration of grief? A critique of American culture? It is all of these things, as well as a novel about what it means to be seen—and what it means to be unseen. Most essentially, it is a heady thriller that asks a reader to engage with a narrator who has been told by circumstance that she has nothing to live for, and who fills the empty spaces in her life with an unhealthy obsession. Lookerdemands the reader look at—really gaze at, live with, and experience—dangerous obsession, but more pointedly, the societal expectations that might lead to it in the first place." —Ploughshares “A spectacular debut novel ... Sims' masterful ending caps a book which does everything right. —The Newark Star-Ledger “Tense, twisted and briskly paced ... Somewhat surprisingly, the most disturbing thing about Looker is the creeping sense of complicity that Sims engenders in the reader." —Shelf Awareness"In prose that moves between lyrical and caterwauling, the poet Laura Sims has pulled off the high-wire act of making bitterness delicious." —Vogue, "Most Anticipated Books of 2019" "This debut is a penetrating and unsettling psychological thriller ... It’s a novel about identity, appearances, and envy, and it’s one of the season’s most timely reads, an innovative experiment in what a thriller can be." —Literary Hub, "Most Anticipated Books of 2019" "In this brief, haunting novel, Sims chronicles the inner life of an unnamed woman ... Looker is a powerful sylph of a book about creation and destruction and the permeable boundary between them." —Literary Hub, "13 Books You Should Read This January" "In this electrifying Hitchcockian debut, an unhappy woman’s obsession with a nearby actress will push the boundaries between insanity and desperation." —Washington Independent Review of Books, "16 Fiction Releases to Watch for” "I've said it before and I'll say it again, I can't wait to see Looker on the big (or small) screen one day ... If you loved The Woman in the Window or Girl on the Train, you won't be able to put Laura Sims's book down this January." —Women.com, "10 New Books You Absolutely Must Read This January" “Tense, twisted and briskly paced, poet Laura Sims's debut novel, Looker, is the progressively disturbing story of one woman's grief-fueled spiral downward to an irredeemable rock bottom… Somewhat surprisingly, the most disturbing thing about Looker is the creeping sense of complicity that Sims engenders in the reader… By the end, Sims compels us to ask: Have we been deranged, predatory voyeurs into the actress's life—or into the narrator's?” —Shelf Awareness “Laura Sims’ sharp debut novel is a thriller about an unhealthy fixation between neighbors, one that’s propelled by the unnamed narrator’s unraveling as she descends into a vortex of resentment and obsession.” —Southern Living, Best New Books Winter 2019 “Jealousy rears its ugly head in Sims’s chilling and riveting debut. In this tightly plotted novel, Sims takes the reader fully into the mind of a woman becoming increasingly unhinged, and turns her emotionally fraught journey into a provocative tale about the dangers of coveting what belongs to another.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review “Readers fond of protagonists who profess to guzzling wine at nine a.m. will breeze right through this one's bad decisions, moments of shocking clarity and cruelty, and—no spoilers!—total undoing. A dark and stylish drama featuring a self-aware yet unstable narrator.” —Booklist “[A] gripping and intense debut . . . . This twisted and tightly coiled tale will define obsession on a new level.” —Library Journal“Sims’s debut is a breathless and unrelenting portrait of one woman’s unraveling.” —Greer Hendricks, New York Times bestselling co-author of The Wife Between Us "A perfect, dark pleasure...propelled by a woman whose obsession with a famous actress spurs one irredeemable trespass after another. A rare debut filled with gorgeous sentences, savory twists, and shot through with ferocious truths, this is the kind of book that can only be written by an author who is thrillingly unafraid." —Mona Awad, author of 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl “With an agile precision reminiscent of Lydia Davis, Laura Sims captures the obsessiveness of a woman who unravels after the collapse of her marriage. A taut, gripping portrait, all the more sinister for its elegance.”  —Leni Zumas, author of Red Clocks  “Like Polanski’s “Repulsion,” Laura Sims’s intense, gripping first novel shoehorns us into a gathering sense of dread, heightened at every turn by our sympathy for her relentlessly unraveling protagonist. The precise, observant writing slips through the skin without ever calling attention to itself.” —Peter Straub, author of A Dark Matter and Interior Darkness “A tightly coiled novel about the poison of resentment. With arresting candor, Laura Sims reveals how fatally it can destroy one's relationship to the world.” —Idra Novey, author of Those Who Knew  "This riveting cautionary tale chronicles the catastrophic downward spiral of a woman whose situation exposes the fragility of human happiness. In language as piercing as the story itself, Sims offers an intense portrait of obsession. Looker is the work of a fierce and fearless writer." —Helen Phillips, author of The Beautiful Bureaucrat Laura Sims lives outside of New York City with her family. Looker is her debut novel.

A dazzling, razor-sharp debut novel about a woman whose obsession with the beautiful actress on her block drives her to the edge.

I’ve never crossed their little fenced-in garden, of course. I stand on the sidewalk in front of the fern-and-ivy-filled planter that hangs from the fence—placed there as a sort of screen, I’m sure—and have a direct line of view into the kitchen at night. I’m grateful they’ve never thought to install blinds. That’s how confident they are. No one would dare stand in front of our house and watch us, they think. And they’re probably right: except for me.

In this taut and thrilling debut, an unraveling woman, unhappily childless and recently separated, becomes fixated on her neighbor—the actress. The unnamed narrator can’t help noticing with wry irony that, though she and the actress live just a few doors apart, a chasm of professional success and personal fulfillment lies between them. The actress, a celebrity with her face on the side of every bus, shares a gleaming brownstone with her handsome husband and their three adorable children, while the narrator, working in a dead-end job, lives in a run-down, three-story walk-up with her ex-husband’s cat.

When an interaction with the actress at the annual block party takes a disastrous turn, what began as an innocent preoccupation spirals quickly, and lethally, into a frightening and irretrievable madness. Searing and darkly witty, Looker is enormously entertaining—a psychologically suspenseful and fearlessly original portrait of the perils of envy.

Not worth your time I bought the book thinking it was going to be some kind of psychological thriller... it’s not. Nothing “thrilling” happens until the very end. Waste of time in my opinion.Great Style But Ended Abruptly This felt like 2/3 of a book. I kept waiting and waiting for the plot to thicken, and it does a tiny bit at the end but then it's over! I really enjoyed her writing style, but it felt too short, and the story didn't feel fleshed out enough.Depressing book I’ve had this book on my “possibility” list for a while, and noticed the price was lower today. Done! Decision made, book bought. I’d read the reviews here, so had a pretty good idea of what to expect.I don’t mind stream of consciousness books as a whole, but this one just droned on too much for me. And even though it’s short, I still skimmed here and there due to boredom and repetitiveness. It’s a very, very depressing book about a woman completely losing the plot of her life and being unable to cope. Yes, there is the obsession/stalking aspect as well — important to the story — but not in the way I was expecting. And it felt a bit too contrived. There were a few potentially interesting parts, but they always just kind of fizzled out. And then that ending. Without giving spoilers, I’ll just say it was very sad and open-ended.Three stars because the author writes so well and is clearly talented. I look forward to future books of hers. With this book, I just didn’t care for the characters or story, and didn’t feel any kind of connection. Watching someone self-destruct is uncomfortable and puzzling, especially when you get very little background or insight into anything.

Title: Every Breath Pdf

In the romantic tradition of The Notebook and Nights in Rodanthe, number-one New York Times best-selling author Nicholas Sparks returns with a story about a chance encounter that becomes a touchstone for two vastly different individuals - transcending decades, continents, and the bittersweet workings of fate.

Hope Anderson is at a crossroads. At 36, she's been dating her boyfriend, an orthopedic surgeon, for six years. With no wedding plans in sight, and her father recently diagnosed with ALS, she decides to use a week at her family's cottage in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, to ready the house for sale and mull over some difficult decisions about her future.

Tru Walls has never visited North Carolina but is summoned to Sunset Beach by a letter from a man claiming to be his father. A safari guide, born and raised in Zimbabwe, Tru hopes to unravel some of the mysteries surrounding his mother's early life and recapture memories lost with her death. When the two strangers cross paths, their connection is as electric as it is unfathomable...but in the immersive days that follow, their feelings for each other will give way to choices that pit family duty against personal happiness in devastating ways.

Illuminating life's heartbreaking regrets and enduring hope, Every Breath explores the many facets of love that lay claim to our deepest loyalties - and asks the question, How long can a dream survive?

Same ol Nick Sparks Gone are the days of amazing Nicholas Sparks; The Notebook, The Wedding, Message in a Bottle....where has that author gone? Everytime a new novel comes out, I rush out to buy it, hoping to be blown away.. Nick Sparks disappointed me once again, boring and predictable.."Every Breath;" GUT-WRENCHING Romance, Based on True Story? While preparing this review, I had to do just as I did while reading the novel – take breaks to let my emotions subside so I could see to read (or write), for a lot of emotions came to the fore. By the way, I strongly recommend adding the Audible Edition to your library at the reduced price of $9.47.Firstly, due to my own personal circumstances. My father, not long before he passed on eight years ago, had urged me to read and study Nicholas Sparks’s style of writing. Dad was not moved by many authors, so I noted that, but did not then do as he urged. In just the introduction to the novel, I quickly understood why Dad was so moved. Also, though, my first marriage was a story not so very different, in the essential ways, from the true story behind the novel. I, too, spent time in Africa (Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa, and I am convinced I shall one day return to that magical, awe-inspiring land). That employment in southern Africa became the beginning of the end of my first marriage, one of the consequences you pay while trying to deal with day-to-day challenges.Of course, had I not gone to Africa, thence, years later, to Egypt, I might never have suffered the divorce but would not have then discovered my wife of today, who is the Godsend that brought me back from the dead and failed. My point is, “Every Breath” by Nicholas Sparks opened up some old wounds BUT also healed them shut. For me, this story was epic. A life changer.BLUSH FACTOR: This love story is absent any profanities, but the love scenes, while drawing a clear, unmistakable picture, are not graphic in the sense of more risqué novels. Tantalizing? Yes, but not over-the-top graphic. Read first before deciding to read to anybody else, is the best advice I can give. Wonderful images beautifully written is another way to put it.ADVENTURE: There IS a definite sense of adventure.SOUL: Yes.CHARACTER OR VOICE: It is magical how this writer can open the story up to let it speak for itself.EDITING FOR GRAMMAR AND TYPOS: Professional editing of the highest order.THE WRITING FLOW & STYLE: I think it’s clear that this writer is moving in his narrative.POV: Third person, which works well for this story. We get to feel the emotions of the main characters so effectively due to the way point of view is used in this work.EXCERPT‘…time, she’d believed her dad to be the smartest man in the world. When she would tell him that, he’d always laugh and say that if that were true, then he would have figured out a way to earn a million dollars. Her mom was a teacher, too—second grade—and it wasn’t until Hope graduated from college and began paying her own bills that she realized how much of a financial challenge it must have been for them to raise a family, even on their combined income. Her dad had been a coach to the high school’s cross country and track teams as well. He never raised his voice, but nonetheless led his teams to numerous conference championships. Along with her sisters, Hope had participated in both sports all four years of high school, and though none of them were stars, Hope still jogged a few times a week. Her older sisters ran three or four days a week, and for the past ten years, Hope had joined her dad and her sisters at the annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, all of them working up an appetite before sitting down at the table. Two years earlier, her dad had won his age-group bracket. But now, her dad would never run again. It had started with occasional twitches and a slight, if noticeable, fatigue. For how long, she wasn’t exactly sure, but she guessed that it had been a couple of years. In the twelve months after that, the runs in the woods became jogs, and then finally walks.Old age, his internist suggested, and it made sense. By then, her dad was in his late sixties—he’d retired four years earlier—and he had arthritis in his hips and feet. Despite a life of exercise, he took medication for slightly elevated blood pressure. Then, last January, he’d caught a cold. It was a normal, run-of-the-mill cold, but after a few weeks, her dad had still found it harder to breathe than usual.Hope had gone with him to another appointment with his internist. More tests were done. Blood work was sent to the labs. He was referred to another doctor, then another. A muscle biopsy was taken, and when the results came back, there was the suggestion of a potential neurological problem. It was at that point that Hope began to worry. More tests followed, and later, Hope sat with the rest of her family as the diagnosis of…’Sparks, Nicholas. Every Breath (Kindle Locations 465-481). Grand Central Publishing. Kindle Edition.BOTTOM LINELife-altering story for me. Only one rating makes sense. With your help, I'll improve every day.One request: Be respectful and courteous in your comments and emails to me. I will do likewise with you.Thank you so much for indicating if this review helped you, or for your comment.Needs editing, boring, sex scene at 47%, still boring Every Breath seriously needs an editor. There is so much “tell” and not enough “show” that the story moves at a glacial pace, compounded by an overreliance on long inner monologues. I grabbed Every Breath on a whim because my sister-in-law raves about The Notebook. I had not read any books by Nicholas Sparks nor seen any movie made from his books, but I like a good romance. Every Breath came up as #1 on Amazon under Clean & Wholesome Romance. I was a bit surprised when I hit a sex scene at 47%. Now, normally this wouldn’t bother me, but here I am about halfway through the book and almost nothing has happened. At all.To be fair, there was a little action. A man drove to the airport and thought of the danger it would be if it were night. He flew to the US. A lady visited her parents’ cottage by the shore. They met on the beach. They met at a restaurant. They talked a bit. They inhabited slow scenes with lots of inner monologues, lots of descriptions, and virtually no action. Finally something happened! These two people who have known each other about two days, I think (sorry, lost track with all the inner ramblings), are now madly in love and jumping into bed. I think he ate some olives in there somewhere. Did they eat their dinner that she was chopping veggies for? I was so bored I can't remember. The woman is trying to assess her six-year relationship with the man she loves because he’s so perfect; she intends to marry him and have the children she’s been yearning for as soon as they get over this rough spot in their relationship. The man she’s just met has no intentions of ever marrying, is sterile and can’t have kids, is a lone wolf who loves his solitary life with the exception of missing his son (begotten before he was sterile, sorry for any confusion there). And suddenly these two acquaintances know that they are deeply in love with each other. They knew upon seeing each other (she’s beautiful; his butt looks nice in tight jeans) how incredible their connection is. They share a few stories and a dinner and are now presumably rocking toward happily ever after. Or at least, the bedroom.Something must happen in the last half of the book, but I don’t really care. I’m so bored and irritated with the overkill on inner monologues, the plodding pace, plus the hackneyed instalove cliché, that my eye rolls gave me a headache. (Confession: it was the frustration with the story that gave me the headache, not the eye rolling.) Every Breath is a DNF for me.ETA: Another reviewer said they read the entire book and in the author note at the end, Nicholas Sparks admits the entire premise of the book is a lie. The book is NOT based on a true story. That's despicable, imo. Before buying the book, I read the intro as part of the sample, I double-checked that that the author had signed and dated the intro, just as authors do for true introductory notes, and I had checked that the Kindred Spirit mailbox is real (it is). I did all that because I wanted to make sure it was based on a true story before I read it. That premise drew me to the book. To find out the whole intro is a dramatic fabrication, a literary device, makes me glad that I didn't finish the book and find that at the end. Nicholas Sparks deliberately played and manipulated us readers with that intro. Not cool.

In addition to receiving an arc, I purchased the book for my collection.A Very Nice Read On really enjoyed this second chance romance. Rick and Annie had a rough beginning. High school love is hard. Trying to fix what broke is even harder. Watching these two battle to the end was very enjoyable. Well done.
