Excellent overall coverage with hands-on exercises In this emerging space it's a challenge to provide a comprehensive view of all the risks a company faces, so this book instead equips the reader with scenarios and hands-on exercises to train the way to think around the problem. Coverage of topics includes physical security, video surveillance, access control and authentication, intrusion detection an monitoring, and it covers both the virtual elements of security together with the physical side.The authors take an 'outside-in' view of securing technology, starting with the physical building and working inwards to the network, local hosts, connectivity, transmission and application layers. It's extremely comprehensive but written in relatively short chapters so you can digest the material in 30-60 minutes, and there are plenty of links to external resources if you want to dive deeper into any given topic. Overall it's an important book for anyone working in cybersecurity or studying this area.Basic Primer This book is more of a primer on the subject of cybersecurity than an advanced textbook. Still, I found it to be pretty valuable reading. My current job deals with access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV systems - so I'm fairly familar with those parts of the book. But, with the other parts - I'm finding a lot to learn. I sort of like the hands-on exercises and the lab questions. Reminds me of all the exam prep workbooks I've used over the years. There is also a good glossary and acronyms list in the back of the book. Being familiar with those is about 80% of the battle IMO. I would recommend this book as more of a starting point rather than a comprehensive textbook. Beginner - intermediate level of knowledge.Cyber-bible! Love it! Covers pretty much everything needed! Good cyber-bible!
